AoEC Director Development :: Events

A complimentary Learning Breakfast for Directors, Partners and Non-Execs

As a leader through these economically challenging times you will have made cutbacks and cost-savings to create a leaner more competitive organisation. But what's the price in terms of customer service, efficiency and employee morale?

How do you maintain standards with fewer resources?

Unfortunately there is no magic bullet but a complex series of actions that comes from:

  1. Really understanding your people and what motivates them, other than money
  2. Identifying and implementing quick-fix ideas and long-term options
  3. Examining your market and discovering new more effective routes

Our approach to helping you find these solutions is through executive coaching and peer mentoring.  Join us for breakfast and learn how you can:

  • Unleash the innovative, problem solving side of yourself
  • Generate the rationale and courage to implement the tough decisions
  • Get tons of ideas from fellow directors who have tackled similar problems and won through.

Yours sincerely

Mike BurnageMike Burnage

Mike Burnage was appointed Commercial Director for the Academy for Chief Executives in November 2006.

Mike spent over 30 years in the retail and wholesale industry.

He started his own video business In store Movies plc which was bought by UK conglomerate Hillsdown Holdings, sold to Cityvision, and then once again to Blockbuster. Finally, Mike bought the business back through a management buy out before selling the business in 2004.

Today, Mike pursues a number of interests. He is involved with the Champagne Academy, a prestigious organisation, which promotes the Grand Marque champagne houses on a non-commercial basis.  He is also chair of the board of governors at Buckinghamshire's largest secondary school, as well as non-executive chairman of two companies, one in the media business and one in the catering trade.

Mike is a firm believer in the benefits the Academy provides to its members.

He also points to the value of having people around the table, with no agenda, who are there to help; effectively, that is a room full of non-executive directors. It is a powerful offering.
